Comfort pitfalls.
I like people who love me.
I'm friendly to people who share the same idea with them.
I'm kind to people who are sympathetic to me.
I'm generous to people who idolize me.
I teach/share people who admire me.
Does that encourage (read:force) people to kissup on me ?
Time is on our side ?
If we don't have enough time (read:busy) we got tired. When we're tired we're easily got angry.
If we got too much time, we dwell on things, loose the perspective, detach from reality and got depressed.
Is there a way out of this ?
Yes man...
Just watch Jim Carey's newest called Yes man.
The quick synopsis is Jim portrays a guy who kinda enjoy his loneliness a bit too much that worries people around her. Helping
People try to be good all their life. I know some people just want to watch the world burns but I still believe such anomalies however potent is insignificant in numbers. Least where I come from...
The easiest way to be good that everybody knows is to help. So they do. In anyway or anyhow they know. But the world's not getting better. So I guess... it turns out helping is not always a good thing.
Say what ?

Black and white in a grey world
Decision making is crucial in life. It's what makes us all ordinary gods.
But like any other thing in this life it is not an easy thing to do some times. At some lower and more superficial level it is so easy we do it and we don't realize it. Like when we're driving, when we're fixing things or when we are talking. Yet as the things considered grow heavier, more conceptual and questioning more fundamental things, the difficulty level will rise respectively. When we're dealing with subjects like feelings, rights, believes, the truth or any other things that comes from our ideals of things the choices are so balance priorities can no longer depends on logic or facts. The white and black in our life becomes a grey...
Why ?

Never do things cause you have to
Make it a want.
Both a have-to and a want are involuntary acts but only one of them leads to regrets. If you do it cause you have to sooner or later you gonna wake up someday and wonder "Why should I do this ?" or worse "I've been doing this and what do I get ?". And when you let this thoughts out in the open people would look at you like you're nuts. All hell will break lose and there's no way to tell who's right or wrong anymore.
You want to help your drunkard dad ? Fine... but do it cause you want to. Cause you love him and you believe you can 'fix' him. Not just because he's your dad and no other sibling of yours would do it. Because when things didn't work out you are mad cause you feel you have 'sacrifice' for him while he's mad cause he KNOWS he never ask for your help. You decide it's something you HAVE TO do.
Where's the end of it ?
How do you reconcile ?

Professionalism
Professionalism is inhuman.
I mean look at the parameters people use to measure one's professionalism. Efficiency, Effectivity, Precision, Accuracy, Persistence... all the terms we use when we talk about machines. YESSssss... quality still matters. But it no longer becomes the only thing. That is how the professionals differ from the amateurs.

Priorities
Priorities are status made to differ the importance of things.
It is such a common thing in the society, especially in professional fields, very few people understand how powerful a priority is. Priority is what makes doctors have confident in saving lifes. Priority is what makes soldiers wins a war. Priority is what makes activists stay true to their course. Priority determines how you live your life.
Why is it so powerful ?
Because priority is the child of decision. A choice.
Idealists has no place in professional fields because they want it all. They make every single thing priority one. Urgent. It sounds deep but the truth is they simply are undecisive. They maybe wise, they might be right, but they can't decide. They are useless.
What if you don't have one ? You don't have a priority.
Then you're wasting time.
You believe taking lives is a sin. You believe guns shouldn't be in any home. You believe abortion is a murder. You believe death penalty should be banned. You believe life is always better than death. But if I come after you with an axe, in a split seconds you gonna have to decide is it going to be you or me. In that split seconds you gonna have to come up with a priority.
Priorities are decisions. You can't live without priorities because you can't live without decisions.

Solving problems
The definition of problem is a disagreement between reality and expectation.
Hence the obvious solution is either :
You change the reality to conform your expectation
or
You lower the expectation so it fits the reality.
The not so obvious solution is...

Happiness
The definition of happiness is the condition when you got everything you want. It explain why it is so easy to be happy. Most women would shamelessly shriek in delight when given chocolate in any form. Men would howl silly in joy just to know their favourite team wins. The definition also explain why it is so damn hard to be happy sometimes. It's because things we want aren't always easy to come by. Girls want boyfriends that understand them, boys want girlfriends that listen to them, everybody wants a boss that understand them, I want a condo with indoor pool and a living room that has a home entertainment center next to the bedroom that has the city as the view right across the working room that has networks of all platform and communication uplink of the broadest bandwidth installed above the garage filled with cool wheels from Harleys to limousins and of course a blond busty housekeeper that fulfil my every needs...
That's the easy aspect of happiness. Something you can see. Predict. And hence... manipulate to whatever goal you want to achieve. It leads to one of the most famous principle of survival - when you know what people want, you control them.
But life unfortunately is a bit more interesting than that.
