The fix that breaks...
My citrix server went bezerk from time to time. I took the time to hunt down the root cause through the event viewer. Googled it, found the official paper, download the fix and installed it. Everything looked ok... feeling smug as I went home.
The next day, all clients could't connect. A voodoo message about disparancy of the license hindered the server useless. So I went to that direction. Cost me half day reading all papers about licensing before a vendor solemly suggest I uninstalled the fix.
It works.
I feel like punching somebody.
But it's kinda hard when that somebody is me...

The gov reach out to IT communities to secure their site during elections. But when the shit hits the fan they start pointing fingers and people who thought they are doing the gov a favour found themselves being a target...
I had diasagreements with my coleague. I strongly believe a penetration test should not be conducted on live system. Everybody seems to think penetration test is the ONLY way to test or guard a network. What about backup ? Fail over system ? Monitoring ?
My thoughts seems to be the minority and now they treat me like I don't exist.
