Just found out I (I think the world as well) lose a hero on May 3rd 2009.
Fravia...
Although we never really knew each other he had been an endless inspiration to me. He prolly didn't know or care that while doing what he's doing. He opened up my mind and blessed me with the right perspective of the internet and it's impact on human kind.
I was a fool to think someday I would be good enough to converse with him.
Now I never will.
He'll be immortalized in my heart.
And mind.
*sigh*
I just realized I don't know anybody who could guide me like he did.

The short version would be he's a hacktivist.
He's not famous in the normal sense. In fact from that page I gave you it showed his mysterious way was part of his charm.
He with one other russian hacker (a more mysterious and more skillfull than Fravia) founded an online academy for reverse engineers (read:crackers).
They release problems as an admission selection and pushed whoever pass to their limit by demanding a paper periodically.
If you ever run into people who put a plus sign on their nick or practicing Zen hacking (the trademark skill of that russian hacker), they are the alumnis of this group.
They tore down anything.
Softwares, Barcodes, Dongles, cryptograph... even social engineering stuff like why teh hypermart is organized in certain ways.
And each of them are so damn fun and funny ! They un sci the sci-fi like children in sandbox.
I was too dumb to solve the problems and can only live on the mercy of their unwavering spirit to share. But just following them from afar makes me feel like somehow am a part of them. Makes me proud I know them. I'm cool just to be in the same lifetime with them.
After awhile... guess due to their high standard and as the web evolve; they got too much toys to play with but too few talents to play along.
I prefer to think they got into dormant instead of being disbanned.
Each went their own ways... and since everybody are using nicks. I lose track of them one by one.
Fravia however went public with his interest in web search. Long before there's google he already know the wicked side of search engines. At the time, he even could do a "dork" with e-mail. Yesss... you can actually search the net with e-mails if you know the right servers. No need proprietary, overbloated browser !
He called it combing, Skimming...
Then I graduated and had to work.
Trying to keep up with the web. I visit his site less and less as the site become more and more static. But everywhere I go.. everytime I found someone who even remotely feel the net is more than just a network ?
I forward his spirits... their spirits.
Now you know where my paranoia came from, why I could be so "off" and dark sometimes.
*sigh*
All must come to an end.
